Beauty And Your Skin:
Is your skin ready for winter? As a mom, joining your kids in outdoor activities, or even taking a winter stroll through the park can leave you dry. A combination of cold temperatures, low humidity, and indoor heating can cause even the smoothest skin to become dry, flaky, and chapped. Here are some winter skin care tips that can help you maintain the beauty of your skin through those cold winter months.
Moisturizing Your skin can become extremely sensitive when faced with harsh winter weather. Using a mild moisturizer as part of a more organic skin care treatment may be your best option when protecting dry skin during the winter months.
There are two different types of moisturizers that are essential to winter skin care:
Occlusive moisturizers protect the moisture that is already in your skin and act as barriers to harsh, dry weather. Use natural skin care occlusives such as shea and cocoa butter, but avoid products containing mineral or petroleum oils, which clog up the pores and contain dangerous by-products.
Emollient moisturizers provide your skin with added moisture by remaining on the surface of the skin or else by penetrating into the topmost layers of the skin. When looking for a natural skin care product, consider ones that contain natural ingredients such as jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, and coconut oil. Not only will these skin care products provide you with natural moisture without clogging your pores, but they are also free of harsh, dangerous chemicals that can harm your skin.
Wear Your Sunscreen
We all know that sunscreen is an essential part of skin care during the hot summer months, but sunscreen is crucial to winter skin care as well. Sunscreen protects your skin from harm that can be caused by sunrays, and can prevent future damage if used regularly.
Snow can act as a reflector that intensifies the sun’s rays, so be sure to apply a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 before leaving the house every day. You might also consider using a facial moisturizer that contains sunscreen during the winter months.
Keep Warm
Don’t forget to bundle up. Try wearing a scarf that can be raised up to cover parts of your face such as the cheeks to avoid windburn. The more skin that’s covered up outdoors, the less dryness you’ll feel later.
You may want to consider using a humidifier in your home, especially in the bedroom. Indoor heating tends to produce dry air, especially with the windows closed. Using a humidifier will replenish moisture in the atmosphere so that your skin does not feel the effects of dryness.
Reduce the length of hot showers and baths that can strip your skin of moisturizing fats. Choose a soap or body wash containing oils or emollients, or add oils directly to bath water to penetrate the skin and nourish it.
Lastly, don’t forget to have fun with your wardrobe. The key to winter wear is layering, since it keeps you warm outdoors and prevents overheating once you’re inside which can intensify dry skin. Layers are a fun way to stay creative and combine textures and colors that may be missing on those grey winter days.

Introducing a new laser at elite laser center
Elite Laser Hair is working with the FDA on a clinical study under IRB guidelines. Sharon McDonough, R.N L.E., C.L.T is certified to conduct the low level laser therapy for smoking cessation and weight loss. The laser treatment is completely painless and study participants are reporting that the treatment is very effective. Treatments are conducted in the comfort of our laser therapy rooms in a calm and pleasant environment. The simulation of acupuncture points- the ears, nose, hands, wrist and forearm- by the low level (cold) laser is being investigated as a means to block your body's need for nicotine, the drug causeing your addiction to tobacco. Treatments are non-invasive, require no needles or drugs and usually take less then an hour! Check out our website for more information or call 631-366-3700 for our free consultation!

What are the laser treatments like?
Laser Hair Removal is a gentle three-step process. First, we gently cleanse the area to be treated. Next, we shave the area. Then the area is scanned with the laser. The laser energy passes through the skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. In a fraction of a second, all of the treated hair follicles are disabled.
Treatments can last from a few minutes to most of an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated.

How Much Does Laser Hair Removal Cost?
The cost varies depending on the area treated. The larger the area the greater the cost.
However your total investment in laser hair removal ends up being significantly less than many other cosmetic alternatives. For electrolysis you must figure the cost of making many tedious visits (a lot more than the handful of laser treatments you'll need).
Or if you figure the cost for continually shaving or waxing. But it also makes more than just economic sense when you consider the discomfort and pain associated with other traditional methods. Not to mention the time you save. So laser hair removal can give you one less thing to think about. One less thing to worry about. And more time for yourself. Most patients consider the cost an investment in themselves.

Safe Summer Skin
Still confused about the difference between UVA and UVB? UVA rays penetrate deeply into the dermis and are the number one cause of premature aging. UVB rays attack superficial skin layers, cause burning, and more directly promote skin cancer. Try this pneumonic: The A stands for "aging" and the B stands for "burns." SkinMedica's Sun Protection line provides full-spectrum UVA and UVB protection with added antioxidants and moisturizers to maintain the health of your skin.

Waxing causing alarming infections
The Surgeon General is looking into how double dipping during waxing causes many infections and Brazilian waxing has already been outlawed in New Jersey. The cost for waxing is around $780 a year/or $2340 for 3 years compared to Laser Hair Removal which costs $1795.00 for 3 years for unlimited treatments, with our company Elite Laser Hair. Which means, that you have 3 years to keep coming in for treatment within the standard treatment protocol with no additional cost to you. There are only 3 places in NYC that offer this Guarantee. You need to ask yourself, permanent hair removal or continuing the cost of waxing which will never be permanent. Which would you choose, Waxing which can run the risk of getting an infection and continued cost or Laser which would actually cost you less in the long run and is permanent reduction.
How long does Laser Hair Removal last?
Laser Hair does work, and if done professionally and correctly, my clients when completely finished will be 85%-95% hair free. We at Elite Laser Hair use only the best medical grade laser machine available on the market. It is one of the few that the FDA has labeled permanent hair reduction. It is also the only GREEN Laser on the market. Which means that the Laser Beam mimics the sun so their are very few complications with this Laser Hair removal system. All treatments are done by a Registered Nurse who has a 98% success rate at client satisfaction. See our web site testimonials for more information.

In the hair removal world it is very hard to know who to go to and who has the best Laser Machines, most experience, highest qualifications. I have found in my 8 years of working in the business allot of my client come to me after having bad experiences elsewhere. Either, what they were told wasn't correct or the worst is that they just didn't get the results they were promised. Laser Hair is a science and there is allot of knowledge and experience that goes into a successful result. We at Elite Laser Hair, have approximately a 97% success rate. We do have a struggle with blond/white hair clients. But, we have had enormous success with client that have Poly cystic Ovarian Syndrome or POS, I have gotten each client where they can go about 6 weeks with little or no hair growth. Which is remarkable for this disorder.
